Mexican Salvia Ring 2

I love the texture of the Mexican Salvia leaf. It is perfect to make a ring with. I pick out several leaves from my garden depending on what the size the ring is to be. I clean the leaf and press it into a thick strip of silver clay. I cut away the excess clay and roll the clay strip onto a ring mandrel. I wrap the leaf impression over itself. After drying it and refining it it is kiln fired at 1650 degrees for two hours. A beautiful pure silver ring emerges. I burnish half the ring with 24K Gold foil, an ancient Korean technique called Keum boo. I paint the other half of the leaf with patina. The result is stunning. I have sold many of these rings.
