Gentle Folk 'Rainbow Juice' Pinot Gris Gewurztraminer - Adelaide Hills, Australia Producer's Notes: A bit of a switch-up for Rainbow Juice in 2022, with the wine being predominantly Pinot Gris co-fermented on skins for 6 days with Gewürztraminer. The result is a super-aromatic textural delight that stays true to the Rainbow Juice mantra of a skin-contact rosé (if that makes sense at all). What We Say: A wine that stays away from the norm and doesn't fit neatly into a specific category. The blend changes with the vintages, but traditionally centers around a Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer blend. Red and white varieties are added to create the red hue that falls somewhere between rosé, skin-contact white, and light red. The wine is highly aromatic, with rose petal, Turkish delight, lychee, and ripe orchard fruit on the nose. The palate is bright and juicy, with plenty of fresh acidity before a zippy, refreshing finish. For recent vintages, the grapes receive a combination of free-run juice, short skin contact and direct pressing. The Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer were co-fermented on their skins for around six days and blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is a wine with aromatic intensity from the varieties, phenolic texture from skin contact, and bright acidity that keeps it exceptionally drinkable.
