Keanu Nelson - Wilurarrakutu LP

NEW / EFFICIENT SPACE 2025 REPRESS Efficient Space continues the groundwork laid by Altered States Tapes, illuminating Luritja singer-songwriter Keanu Nelson with a repress of his remarkable 2023 album Wilurarrakutu. Hailing from the remote community of Papunya, northwest of Alice Springs, Nelson quietly developed songs with his notebook, guitar, and voice—songs of longing for Country, for family, for girls. With no immediate means to record them, he fatefully connected with producer and musician Yuta Matsumura (The Lewers, Th Blisks) through the Papunya Tjupi Arts Centre. Working solely with the producer’s available gear, Nelson's instinctive cues to the local gospel sound are subtly warped by Matsumura’s functionally minimal electronics and humid melodica dub. Released elsewhere via Mississippi Records, this "Australian" edition is cut with precision by Dubplates & Mastering, presented with translated lyrics, liner notes, and a new design by James Vinciguerra.
