Overview The Hi-Beat 36000 GMT in SBGJ015 is a Grand Seiko limited edition released to mark the 55th anniversary of the original Grand Seiko in 1960, restricted to 200 numbered pieces and sold exclusively in Asian markets outside Japan. It shares its case architecture with the 44GS-derived Hi-Beat GMT line introduced in 2014, distinguished here by a dedicated anniversary dial rather than the standard production colourways. The case is 40mm Oystersteel, styled after the 44GS case shape, with a dial finished in silver and worked with a fine, repeating lion-motif texture, Grand Seiko's own emblem rendered subtly enough to disappear at most angles and catch light only under direct inspection. Hour and minute hands are steel-coloured, the seconds hand blued, and the GMT hand gold, with a 24-hour scale and date window completing the layout. Inside is the calibre 9S86, Grand Seiko's Hi-Beat GMT movement running at 36,000 vph (5Hz), a frequency high enough to average out the effect of external disturbance and delivered with 37 jewels and a magnetism-resistant balance spring developed in-house. Power reserve is approximately 55 hours, water resistant to 100m, accuracy rated at +5/-3 seconds a day. As a numbered anniversary piece limited to 200 examples and never sold in Japan, this reference trades on scarcity as much as on the Hi-Beat GMT's own mechanical case.
