That is where the low sheen and the cool slide come from, and because it is structural rather than a finish, it survives washing. The count is 300, near the top of what a square inch of cotton will hold before the yarn has to be thinned to fit. The cotton is long-staple, so the yarn spins fine and even without the short ends that make cheaper cotton pill.The color is the cotton's own. No bleaching and no optical brighteners, so it reads as a warm natural off-white rather than the blue-white of most bedding.Cut and sewn in New Jersey. The sateen carries Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification under license GOTS-10229, issued by Oregon Tilth, and the license number is public so you can check it yourself.
