The Premium Glaze Tall Egg Planter is a double-fired ceramic planter made in three heights on one footprint: 48 x 54cm, 48 x 74cm and 48 x 87cm. Every size is 48cm across, so the three group as a matched set. Ten hand-applied glaze colourways run from ocean blues to gunmetal. Why you'll love it Three heights, one width. All three sizes are 48cm in diameter, so a stepped group of two or three reads as deliberate. Glaze applied by hand. Ten colourways, double fired for depth, with the tone shifting across the curve. Frost resistant finish. The second firing gives the glaze its frost resistance, and the colours hold through Australian summers and frosty mornings. Heavy enough to stay put. 35kg, 45kg and 55kg empty, so a filled planter stays put in an exposed spot. Sizes and what fits in them Three sizes, quoted as diameter by height in outside dimensions. No volume figures are published for this shape. 48 x 54cm, 35kg. The shortest and the most useful for planting: a 25L shrub, a clipped ball or a compact citrus. 48 x 74cm, 45kg. Lifts foliage to about waist height, good beside a balcony rail or a seating area. 48 x 87cm, 55kg. Nearly 900mm tall. Best with something upright, or standing alone as a column of glaze. Material, weathering and drainage Material. Double-fired ceramic under a hand-applied glaze. All measurements are outside dimensions, and the taller two sizes hold less mix than their height suggests because the egg narrows towards the top. Outdoors. Frost resistance comes from the double firing, and the glazes keep their colour outside. Expect tone and pooling to vary between pieces. The 74cm and 87cm sizes are tall for their base, so give them level, firm ground. Drainage. It drains from the base. Keep the holes clear and stand the planter on pot feet so water escapes freely. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, because both clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a quality premium potting mix, never garden soil.
