This intensive 4-week Intro to Sewing class will get you comfortable with the basics of sewing on a machine and working through a project start to finish. This class is great for anyone who has never sewn before, or those who need a 'back to the basics' kind of refresher. You will learn tips and tricks for making straight seams, a few basic types of stitches, and making a tote bag. The month-long format allows you to get familiar with troubleshooting, repeating threading and other actions with supervision, and just getting more time to get comfy on the machine. Week 1: Ins and outs of a sewing machine Week 2: Learning the most useful stitches Week 3: Cutting a pattern and starting to prep the bag Week 4: Completing your tote bag Each session will be two hours, from 6-8pm at our studio at 1842 E Main St, Ventura. All materials and tools will be included, including a sewing machine. Consider bringing a notebook in case you find that taking notes is helpful for your sewing journey. It is highly advisable that you make sure you can attend all sessions, make up classes are not currently offered. Attendees must be 12+, minors must be accompanied by an adult. To cancel or reschedule, please contact 2 days before class. Staff and materials are prepared for scheduled classes based on their capacity.
