Your candle will thank you. Snap the charred top off your wooden wick before each burn. No trimmer required, just your fingers and a cool candle. Keep the candle free of anything that's not wick or wax. Rule of thumb: if you wouldn't eat it, don't burn it. Don't burn for more than 4 hours at a stretch — give it a rest. Stop using when only 1/4" of wax remains. (We know, parting is such sweet sorrow.) Heads up: wood wicks can be drama queens on the first light — sometimes it takes a few tries. Remove Excess Wax: Gently scrape off as much of the leftover wax as possible using a spoon or butter knife. Be careful not to scratch the glass. Fill a Bowl with Hot Water: Place the candle glass in the bowl (careful not to get water in the glass) to soften the wax. Wipe with a paper towel. Clean with Hot Soapy Water: Fill the glass with hot, soapy water and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe Clean: Use a sponge or cloth to wipe away any remaining wax residue.
