Modular Math: Decimals (Digital)

Welcome to Decimals! This unit of Modular Math is different from many of our others, as it is geared for older learners ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 9 and focuses on decimals and how they represent parts of a whole in everyday life. Students begin by learning place value with tenths and hundredths and exploring how decimals appear in familiar contexts such as money and measurements. Foundation level learners practice converting fractions to decimals, comparing and ordering decimals, and adding and subtracting decimal numbers. As levels progress, students work with rational numbers in more complex problem-solving, converting between decimals, fractions, and percents while also working with negative decimals and mixed rational numbers. Decimals are applied in equations, proportions, geometry formulas, and scientific notation, and the final levels extend these ideas into broader math concepts such as linear equations, slope, probability, and statistics. Through the program’s spiral and mastery approach, decimal concepts are introduced clearly and then reinforced as students move into deeper and more practical applications.
