Alta Montaña Alta Montaña is a community coffee from the highlands of Chanchamayo, produced by smallholder farmers organised through a young and progressive cooperative based in Pichanaki. Grown between 1,350 and 1,850 metres under native shade trees, the coffee benefits from a biodiverse environment and the warm, humid conditions typical of Peru’s central jungle. The cooperative supports its members with technical training, financing and infrastructure, helping improve both quality and consistency. Coffees are fully washed and carefully dried—often using solar dryers—to manage the region’s high humidity and preserve clarity in the cup. Made up of classic varieties such as Caturra, Typica and Bourbon, Alta Montaña delivers a clean and approachable profile, with notes of cocoa, toasted nuts and soft citrus, balanced by a medium body and gentle acidity. More than just a coffee, Alta Montaña reflects a growing movement in Peru: small producers working collectively to improve quality, sustainability and long-term resilience.
