Herbaceous Peony 'Belgravia'

Herbaceous Peony 'Belgravia' Belgravia commands attention with huge double red blooms of bomb form, opening from large, plump buds to flowers up to 25cm wide. They are held high on strong, short stems to around 80cm, making it well suited to borders. Belgravia is unregistered, so it has no official registration date. It is reportedly a chance find, discovered growing in a row of the Don Hollingsworth variety 'Command Performance', and it has since been widely distributed and marketed in the Netherlands from around 1978. Some American growers feel it deserves registration, and given its beauty and growing popularity, we expect it will be. The foliage is dark green, and the large, plump buds and strong stems make it a fine cut flower. Blooming begins in mid-season.
