Mizoram Wild Black Tea
Indigenous Wild Jungle Black Tea From The Forests of Mizoram The last indigenous Indian black tea, made by wild tea leaves that have been processed in a unique fashion, a process that has been carried through centuries and preserved in Leisenzo village, in Mizoram. Wild teas leaves are plucked from the jungle, withered and pounded in a big mortar and pestle that is used for grain, and then fermeneted between jute mats followed by sun drying. Both the pounding of the leaves and sun drying are rather unheard of in post colonial era of Indian tea. We absolutely love the story and tea, hope you do too! Delicious jammy notes of cherry, plum, intermingeled with tobacco and wood.
