Clinical UseThe Rubber Dam Clamp #13A is a winged molar clamp with serrated jaws. The serrated jaws bite into the tooth for a secure hold on molars that are partially erupted, broken down or irregular in shape, where a smooth-jaw clamp would slip. It is used as a pair with the 12A, which has the jaws angled for the opposite side.A rubber dam clamp anchors the dam to the tooth so the field stays dry and isolated during root canal treatment, bonding and restorative work. The jaws grip the tooth just below the height of contour, and the bow carries the dam over the tooth while keeping it out of the way.Design and HandlingThe clamp has a black matte, non-glare finish. Under a bright operatory light or a microscope, a polished clamp throws back reflections into the field. The matte surface reduces that glare, so the tooth and the margins are easier to see during long procedures. The wings extend from each jaw so the dam can be stretched over them. The two forceps holes take Ivory or Palmer pattern rubber dam forceps, and the bow is shaped to keep the dam away from the access cavity.Placement TechniqueTie a length of floss to the bow before placement as a safety line, so the clamp can be retrieved if it slips. Seat the forceps beaks in the two holes, spread the clamp just enough to pass over the widest part of the crown, and lower it to the cervical area before releasing.Check that all four points of the jaws contact the tooth and that the clamp does not rock. A clamp that rocks or pinches the gingiva should be repositioned or swapped for another pattern. The wings let you place the clamp, dam and frame together in one step, or you can place the clamp first and stretch the dam over it.Material and SterilizationMade from stainless steel with a black matte finish. Autoclavable. Clean the clamp after each use, and check the bow for fatigue or cracks before it goes into the pouch. Replace a clamp that has lost its spring or no longer holds firmly.Product Features Winged molar rubber dam clamp, pattern #13A Serrated jaws for a secure hold on partially erupted or broken-down molars Pairs with the #12A for the opposite side Black matte, non-glare finish for less reflection under the light Fits Ivory and Palmer pattern rubber dam forceps Stainless steel, autoclavable
