Built to order in America, the Mercer Corner Chair by Stanley Furniture is a 42-inch square with the low back wrapping both sides, so the corner is a full seat with support behind it in either direction. Join a one-arm sofa, loveseat or chair to each open side for an L, or put a corner at both ends of an armless run for a U. The corner is usually the most wanted seat in a sectional, and on the Mercer it sits like every other: low, deep and soft. Craftsman-built frame of kiln-dried hardwood, primarily solid alder, corner-blocked and reinforced with glue, staples and screws, so the curve stays true. Arched 8.5-gauge sinuous springs with double tie-wires deliver quiet, no-sag support in every seat. Seat and back cushions wrap a high-density foam core in a feather-locked envelope of Trillium gel-blown fiber: the softness of down, hypoallergenic and feather-free, so they soften in without going flat.
