TCB Jeans_New S40's Cord Jacket_Salmon Pink

SPIRAL COMMENT TCB's corduroy collection, round two! Following the vibrant Green Apple Cat Head Jacket we introduced recently, here comes another fantastic color: Salmon Pink! The TCB JEANS New S40's Cord Jacket has arrived at Spiral. The Green Apple certainly made an impression, but this Salmon Pink is every bit as striking. It's not an overly bright pink. Instead, it has a slightly muted, soft tone that feels wonderfully vintage. And what a great color it is! TCB had long been fascinated by a vintage salmon-pink corduroy jacket. The original was a Levi's Type III-style jacket, but over the years, these jackets became increasingly rare, and even finding similar corduroy fabric became difficult. So TCB decided to study the vintage original and develop the fabric from scratch. Rather than reproducing the Type III design, however, they chose to use their ever-popular S40's WWII-style jacket as the base. Front pleats, a single chest pocket, and a neat, slightly cropped length. It's a familiar wartime denim jacket design, but made in corduroy, it takes on a completely different personality. The fabric is a fine 14-wale corduroy, matching the vintage original. TCB even studied the original fabric composition, recreating it with 85% cotton and 15% polyester. They also chose reactive dyeing. Rather than giving the jacket an artificially aged appearance from the start, the idea is to let the color develop slowly with wear, much like a favorite pair of jeans. Even in the photos, the puckering along the seams and the texture of the corduroy give it a wonderful character. And perhaps the best part? This color looks fantastic with denim! Whether you prefer deep indigo or beautifully faded jeans, Salmon Pink works surprisingly well with both. Just throw it on over a plain white T-shirt, and you're good to go. A pink jacket might sound a little difficult to style, but this one is much easier to wear than you'd expect. It has a completely different appeal from the Green Apple Cat Head Jacket, and choosing between the two isn't easy! TCB's passion for vintage details, combined with a little playful use of color. So, which would you choose: Green or Pink?♪ Spiral Note Is Salmon Pink Really the Color of Salmon? Color names can be surprisingly tricky, can't they? Take black, for example. There's blue-black, reddish black, and slightly faded black. When you work with clothing, you often find yourself thinking, "Wait, this is black too? But they look completely different!" TCB's Salmon Pink is a perfect example of just how interesting color names can be. TCB carefully studied a vintage Levi's 70505 corduroy jacket, comparing dye samples prepared in laboratory beakers until they found just the right shade. But here's where things get particularly TCB-like. Haha! Apparently, they decided that if they were going to call the color "Salmon Pink," they really ought to compare it with actual salmon. So they gathered a salmon bento lunch, a salmon rice bowl, smoked salmon, and even a salmon rice ball to compare the colors. And the result? Not even close. Haha! On the TCB blog, they explained that despite taking both the tasting and the color comparison very seriously, they ultimately chose to prioritize the vintage jacket's color over the color of real salmon. Well, of course they did! Haha! But I think there's something genuinely interesting about this little experiment. Even when we use the same color name, we don't necessarily imagine the same shade. Different manufacturers interpret colors differently, and those interpretations can change over time. And describing an actual color using words alone is incredibly difficult. I try all sorts of things when photographing products to make the colors look as close to the real thing as possible. But the way those colors appear can change depending on the screen, its settings, and the lighting conditions in which someone views them. That makes presenting colors accurately online even more challenging. Perhaps that's why it's worth looking beyond the name of a color and simply appreciating how beautiful it looks in person. This Salmon Pink might not match the color of actual salmon, but it has a wonderfully appealing vintage character all its own. Color is complicated. But that's exactly what makes it so interesting.
