Golden-Skinned Nephrite Ingots 洒金皮籽料元宝串

Sixty ingots. One unbroken thread of auspiciousness. Carved from nephrite seed material with its natural golden speckled skin preserved, this heirloom piece brings together two rarities: the warm, understated beauty of gold-speckled jade skin, and the auspicious form of the traditional Chinese 元宝—the sycee ingot, long associated with wealth, abundance and prosperity. Sixty ingots are arranged in ascending order of size, thirty on either side, creating a pleasing rhythm of proportion along a strand longer than a conventional bracelet. Each retains its natural skin, allowing the fine golden speckles and individual markings of the original material to remain part of the composition. Finding nephrite seed material with skin of such character is one challenge; assembling sixty pieces into a harmonious, graduated sequence, all in this auspicious form, is another. The result is a collectible that would be exceptionally difficult to reproduce with the same natural individuality. Accented with 南红 carved agate beads, and finished with four petite tassels, the arrangement balances the earthy warmth of the nephrite with the rich, cinnabar-red character of red agate. Every detail contributes to a piece that feels both traditional and quietly distinctive. Long enough to be appreciated as a hand-held 把玩 piece, it invites the fingers to follow the sequence of ingots, discovering their individual shapes, textures and natural skin. It may also be worn as a neck ornament for a child, carrying with it the affectionate symbolism of a wish for abundance, good fortune and a life blessed with plenty. A piece conceived to be cherished deserves a home of its own. We have therefore commissioned a specially custom-made brocade box, chosen to house and protect this heirloom-worthy strand when it is not being worn or handled. A collector's treasure to handle, display and pass down—a quiet expression of the enduring Chinese wish that good fortune may accumulate, one ingot at a time.
