Raja Maha Viharas of Kandy by Lloyd Weerekoon

The raja maha viharas described in this book are found in a definite geographical area often referred to as the Kande Uda Pas Rata, or the 5 ratas of the Hill Country. They are not confined to any particular historical period, but are included "because they are there". As this book does not pretend to be an archaeological treatise nor yet an historical tome, this looseness of definition is excusable. It is rather a book for the enquiring layman and not for the student of either of these erudite subjects.
