These Hag Tapers are Mullein stalks that were harvested during Summer’s Full Moon and witchcrafted with PNW mountain beeswax and various herbs on this October Full Moon 🔥 They are all large 13-14" long. They have long natural stems to hold or snip off to place in candle holder. Choose from the dropdown: 1. Waxing Gibbous Taper - crafted with plain PNW beeswax dipped in charcoal infused PNW beeswax. A blank slate to use in ritual. Burn as is or adorn with your own sigils, blood, herbs and thoughts. 2. Autumn Night Taper - crafted with charcoal infused PNW beeswax, lavender buds & purple/silver mica. Intended to aid in visions & shadow work. 3. Dark Woods Taper - crafted with charcoal infused PNW beeswax, WR Cedar and Yarrow sprig. Intended to conjure protection 4. Rays of Light Taper - crafted with plain PNW beeswax rolled in Calendula, Hibiscus, Rosemary & gold mica. Intended to bring ancestor love & connection. The process of crafting these into fruition takes a lot of meditative time; they are infused with love & deep intention. I made a small batch of each that I hope will find their way onto sacred altars, lit during seasonal ceremony or as a gift for a loved one. These tapers make the perfect tool for Samhain rituals and spells, to commune and ask guidance from ancestors and spirits while the veil is thin. 🌝 THE HISTORY OF HAG TAPERS: Mullein is native to Europe and Asia and has a history dating back well over two thousand years. Hag Tapers have an ancient history dating back to Roman times, in late summer they’d harvest dried Mullein stalks & dip them in animal fats like tallow or beeswax, sometimes rolled in herbs & burn them as torches during funerals & in ceremony. One of their names for Mullein was actually "Torch Plant" for this reason. The yellow flowers of the Mullein stalks were even used to dye ladies hair yellow in ancient Rome. Ancient Witches burned these torches to wander the woods, commune with Ancestors & spirits of the Otherworld. They were also used to cleanse negative psychic energy and keep evil spirits away. They are most often crafted to be burned during the Sacred Sabbath of Samhain and used as a ritual divination tool while the veil is thin. ⚠️⚠️ BURN WARNING & SUGGESTED USE INSTRUCTIONS: This is for outside use only. Set this Hag Candle on a steady surface and be sure it is far away from anything flammable. You may choose to remove some or all of the adorning herbs to further prevent a risk for sparks. The herbs may crackle and spark. The beeswax will melt down and around the torch as it burns, so be sure it is on a protected surface and do not leave unattended. Once lit, it will likely not go out and it may smoke a lot, so it is recommended to use outdoors or in a well-ventilated open spaces. May be snuffed out into a can of ashes or water and re-lit for later use. Please keep away from children and animals. Keep in mind this is a highly flammable torch so please burn it wisely and take precaution!
