Deep Plain Beeswax Foundation is unreinforced, precision-milled pure beeswax in sheet form. The cell structure is worker-sized and milled with deep cell walls, which gives bees a well-defined template to build from. Because it contains no embedded wire or plastic, it's the softest and most pliable of the foundation types — bees draw it readily, and it installs without any additional hardware or tools beyond the wedge top bar. The trade-off is structural. Without wire reinforcement, plain wax sheets can sag in warm weather and are more likely to blow out in a centrifugal extractor. We recommend cross-wiring frames before installing this foundation — thread wire through the side bars and use a wire embedder to press the wire into the wax after installation. Cross-wired plain foundation handles extraction well and gives you the natural beeswax draw characteristics without the blowout risk. Cold Weather Shipping Note Beeswax foundation will freeze and crumble if shipped at temperatures below 38°F. We hold orders for delivery until destination temperatures are above 38°F. If you instruct us to ship during a cold weather window, we will do so at your risk — we cannot accept returns for foundation damaged by freezing in transit.
