Kenya Kamwangi

WHY WE LOVE IT: The vibrant acidity, balanced sweetness and heavy body of Kenyan coffees keep us coming back for more and more. This coffee offers bright, tart, citrus and fruit-forward notes that sparkle in a way only Kenyan coffees can. The Kamwangi washing station has produced amazing coffees that Kaldi’s has had the opportunity to share with our customers in prior years, and we are excited to do so again. There is something special about coffee from the Kamwangi washing station, from the harvest and soil composition to the climate and slightly cooler temperatures influenced by glacially fed rivers. This coffee represents everything we enjoy about Kenyan coffees, and we are excited to have it back once more. MORE INFO: Kamwangi Factory is one of three coffee washing stations operated by the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society in the northeastern section of Kenya’s Kirinyaga region. In the absence of a wastewater treatment system, members of the Kamwangi station have incorporated water-soaking pits in recent years, allowing wastewater to seep back into the soil for natural filtration. Kamwangi is located near Mount Kenya National Park, where glaciers on the mountain help feed the surrounding rivers. One of these rivers, the Nyamindi, supplies the Kamwangi station with the water necessary for washing and processing its coffee
