Sandbar (Coyote) Willow

About the Sandbar (Coyote) Willow The Sandbar Willow (also called Coyote Willow) is a native prairie willow with long, narrow, silvery-green leaves. It naturally grows along rivers, sandbars and sloughs, spreading by roots to form dense colonies that hold soil in place. Fast-growing and tolerant of wet soils and flooding, Sandbar Willow is one of the best plants for erosion control, riparian restoration and stabilizing banks and dugouts. Its thickets provide cover and nesting habitat for birds and wildlife. Check out our free PDF Tree Planting Guide.
