About the Artist Alex Vigil is a Santa Fe–based emerging designer creating one-of-a-kind wearable art rooted in sustainability and his Spanish and Native American heritage. Working with vintage denim and reclaimed materials, Alex uses deconstruction, patchwork and handwork to give existing garments an entirely new life. His work connects heritage with contemporary design while keeping craft, community and care for the earth at its center. About the Piece Alex transformed reclaimed vintage denim into this one-of-a-kind patchwork zip jacket, piecing together different washes, textures and tones to create an entirely new garment. The jacket features an oversized, relaxed silhouette with raglan-style sleeves, a pointed denim collar and full zip front. Contrasting panels of light and dark vintage denim create bold geometric shapes across the front, sleeves and back, while an oversized patch pocket adds another layer of dimension. Raw edges, visible seams, fading and subtle traces of the denim’s previous life are intentionally left intact—celebrating the process of reconstruction and making each detail part of the story.
