Lakrisal – Salty Liquorice Pastilles – 25g
Lakrisal is a Malaco brand of salty liquorice pastilles sold in the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. At 6% ammonium Chloride, they sit in the extra salty category. Unlike most salty liquorice sweets, Lakrisal does not contain any starch or gum arabic (E414). Instead, it is made almost entirely of sugar, liquorice, and ammonium chloride. Because of this, Lakrisal drops are powdery & chalky, and have been pressed to stay in one piece like tablets. Lakrisal is a direct continuation of a similar product Bronzol, launched as a throat tablet, which was advertised under the slogan "Hälsan för halsen - Bronzol!" ("Health for the throat - Bronzol!", sung to the melody of Shave and a Haircut). About Malaco Malaco comes from the initial letters of Malmö Lakrits Compani. The company was founded in 1934 and was Sweden's first liquorice manufacturer. Today they are a leading Swedish brand and part of the Cloetta group.
