Victorian 14KY gold, garnet and turquoise mourning cross pendant with chain
Description : Mourning jewelry was a beautiful language that spoke volumes on the stages of grief. Often the hair of the deceased was included in a secret compartment of the piece. There is a tiny glass box in the back of this solid, magnificently engraved garnet and turquoise cross. Gold usually indicated the final stage of grief and offered hope to the one who has suffered the loss. Garnets were used during the transition of mourning. There is 7.66 grams of gold including the incredible woven chain this turquoise and garnet cross is paired with, and the clasp has engraving on it as well. The pendant slide heart indicates this loss was one of great significance, and was someone very dear to the owner. Item Number : P24493 Category : NECKLACE Brand : CF
