Small Marine Wall Cage Light - Brass and Steel (c.1970)
A vintage industrial small wall cage light which has been reclaimed from industrial marine environments and restored by hand by Loomlight in the UK. Originally manufactured in Japan, these robust passage lights were designed for use on ships and in harsh coastal conditions—built to withstand moisture, vibration, and heavy daily use. Each fixture features a solid brass protective cage that threads securely over a thick tempered glass dome, safeguarding the bulb and internal components. The glass enclosure houses an SBC (B15) lamp holder, while the main body is formed from cast mild steel, giving the piece its distinctive weight and durability. Original industrial detailing is retained throughout, including the mechanical fastenings and utilitarian form that define its character. These lights were typically used along ship corridors and exterior passageways, where reliability and protection were essential. Their compact scale and directional output make them particularly effective when installed in series—creating rhythm and atmosphere along walls. Ideal for commercial interiors such as restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and retail spaces, as well as residential settings where a subtle industrial accent is desired. They work especially well in hallways, staircases, or as bedside wall lighting. Each light has been carefully stripped, cleaned, and reassembled in our Leicestershire workshop. All electrical components have been replaced and upgraded to modern standards using CE-certified or UL-listed parts, ensuring safe, long-term use in contemporary interiors. Supplied ready for installation. Compatible with LED bulbs.
