The Ocean Fern ring, bespoke made for you on the Isle of Arran by Jess MacDonald Brass. The Ocean Fern ring is created by carving, shaping and melting wax, then using a method called 'lost wax casting'. I use this process to create soft flowing forms and air bladder shapes which looks similar to the the seaweeds found in UK waters, like wireweed and various wrack species. Wireweed and wrack are common along rocky shores, shaped by constant movement and exposure to the elements. Wireweed grows in fine, branching strands that form tangled, textured mats, while wrack seaweeds are broader and more structured, often with air-filled bladders that help them rise and fall with the tide. Both are resilient, adapting to shifting conditions between land and sea. This ring draws on those natural forms and textures, the contrast between delicate branching lines amd stronger, sculptural shapes, grounded in the character of the shoreline. The price on this listing is for a handmade, one of a kind silver ring. If you would like to know more, it's best to email me and we can talk it through. Each will look slightly different as made individually for each customer, with roughly an 8 week turnaround. Please email me before purchase with your finger size and any specific requirements, like width of ring or if you would like a price in gold or platinum. Thankyou. My jewellery is individually hand-crafted or made in small batch production which is hand-finished - this is reflected in the final finish of each piece. This means that it will not be the same as machine made or mass-produced jewellery. Instead, it gives each of my designs a special artisanal touch.
