Cthulhu: Dark Providence

Dark Providence is a tense competitive strategy game set in the world of Cthulhu: Death May Die, where hidden loyalties, political influence, and cosmic horror collide during the Great Depression. Players represent powerful figures from major American cities, each secretly aligned as Investigators, Cultists, or Dissidents. Every role has different goals. Cultists seek to exploit the nation’s weakness and reshape it through the influence of unspeakable beings from beyond reality. Investigators work to resist the growing darkness and protect the country. Dissidents belong to neither side, instead pursuing their own agenda through assassination, sabotage, and control of key locations. Keeping your identity hidden is often the key to success. At its core, Dark Providence features deck building and area control mechanics. Players use Influence cubes to bid for valuable Asset cards, gain control of cities, and collect Mythos cards. Asset cards improve your deck, granting stronger resources, actions, and strategic options as the game progresses. All players begin with the same starting deck, but how you develop it shapes your path to victory. Throughout the game, players manipulate hired agents, assassinate rivals, protect or seal gates, block opponents, and manage the constant threat of insanity. Strategic deception is just as important as efficient card play, since revealing your true allegiance too early can make you a target. At the end of the game, only the player with the most Victory Points from the dominant faction wins. Dark Providence also includes a dedicated solo mode, where one player leads the Investigators against one of six unique Elder Ones attempting to corrupt the nation.
