Silver and Tiger's Eye Canister

Stylish cylindrical silver canister with tiger's eye stone top set under a silver open octagonal honeycomb-patterned design. With hand-chased silver body and gilded interior. The canister is hallmarked Birmingham 1975, with maker's marks for Deakin & Francis, and was originally used for storing cigarettes. We also have a matching but smaller example of this canister. Founded in 1786, Deakin & Francis is today, seven generations later, still owned and managed by the Deakin family (James, Henry and David Deakin). In recent times the house speciality has become the manufacture of a large range of gentlemen's cufflinks. Dimensions: 9.5 cm/3¾ inches (height) x 6.5 cm/2⅝ inches (diameter). Tiger's Eye is a member of the quartz family of rocks that polishes to a glossy lustre and has a holographic quality. This gemstone is great for decorative pieces due to the fact that it is relatively hard. The colouration of Tiger's Eye typically includes strips, lines and veins of colour in beautiful shades of honey, rich yellow and golden brown.
