The real difference is in the leather. Steel and moisture do not mix, which is why we specifically source a rare type of leather tanned in a way that does not attract water. Only a small portion of the world’s leather is tanned this way, making it especially well-suited for storing razors, knives, and other metal items. We start with raw tanned leather, with no added color or finishing, then handcraft the finishing process in our shop in metro Nashville. Each piece of leather is dyed to complement the cigar box, treated with 100% pure Neatsfoot oil — long considered the gold standard for conditioning leather — and finished with Resolene to create a flexible, water-resistant surface. This added layer helps further protect your steel items from moisture. For extra protection, each box also includes rechargeable desiccant packs to help control humidity inside the box.
