Jonghun Kim Ohido chawan “不動夢-Idomu-”
A Ohido tea bowl by the ceramic artist Kim Jong-hun, based in Gyeonggi-do, Korea. In this work, a soft biwa-colored body is covered with a fine network of crackles, while a pale white glaze creates a quiet landscape across the surface. The slightly distorted form, together with the beauty of the foot, which subtly unsettles the bowl’s balance, gives the piece a degree of completeness that makes comparison with famous historic bowls seem almost unnecessary. The deeply drawn interior and the irregular traces of kairagi all appear wholly natural, and yet each feels indispensable, as though nothing could be otherwise. The moment one takes it in hand, the artist’s profound devotion to the Ido tea bowl becomes unmistakable. The title that came instinctively to mind was “不動夢 (Idomu)” — an unmoving dream, but also a dream of Ido chawan, and the spirit of striving toward it. It is a bowl born from the accumulation of thought, reflection, and continued making: truly, a contemporary masterpiece. Diameter: 15.5 cm / Height: 9.8 cm With original signed wooden box (tomobako) and original cloth (tomonuno). (We will ship within 3 business days after completing your order.)
