Vintage Turkish Yagcibedir
This rug was hand-knotted using pure lambs wool in the nomad inhabited villages of Turkey. The pile is clipped short to allow the pattern to be clearly seen and the color palette includes dark indigo blue and rich madder red. Legend has it that a butter seller from Kayseri, who made excellent quality carpets to supplement his income, shared his skills with the people of the villages he visited. When the villagers started to produce they named the carpets after him (Yagcibedir). A beautiful example of human creativity, in near perfect condition. Professionally cleaned. G604-2924 3'8" x 6'9"
