Courgette Summer Sun F1
Wow, such fun. Vibrant yellow striped, round fruits shine in the garden and Summer Sun really can’t be missed. The plants are compact, with fruits that are easy to spot and harvest. Pick them young and enjoy them sliced into salads or cooked on skewers on the barbecue. Leave them a little longer and they are perfect for stuffing and roasting. If you go away and they grow large, treat them as marrows and enjoy them that way, as they stay tasty. Another outstanding reason to recommend this variety is that it grows well in drier conditions, a very useful trait in our unpredictable summers. SOW & GROW: from late April to June, under cover or on a windowsill, sow one seed per pot. Keep moist but not waterlogged. Harden off and plant out once all danger of frost has passed. In cooler areas, protect young plants with cloches until they have settled in. This is a compact variety that copes well even when conditions are on the dry side. ENJOY: these are easy to spot among the greenery. When small, add them to salads or skewer them for kebabs. Slice in half and grill, top and tail and cook whole in stews or curries. For tennis ball sized fruits, cut into wedges and grill, sauté or stuff and roast. Larger fruits can be treated as marrows.
