A heavy, hand-cut wood-block print of round daisy-like blooms and feathered leaves in deep indigo, pressed onto a coarse, oat-colored paper that reads as raw and tactile. The flower heads are circular and emphatic, with radiating lines suggesting petals and a stippled disk at the center. They stand atop straight, slightly clumsy stems with serrated leaves clustered along the bottom, plus smaller buds and side blossoms that fill in the surrounding space. Print imperfection is the entire point. Pigment levels vary visibly from impression to impression — some flowers print darkly and richly, others lighter and partially blank where the block didn't fully contact the paper. Small flecks and fibers in the ground show through the ink, and the edges of every shape are slightly fuzzy in the way of an actual relief print. The indigo is deep and warm-leaning, more naval than electric. This is paper for rooms that want craft to be visible. A reading nook in a converted barn, a powder room in an Arts-and-Crafts bungalow, a hallway in a Stickley-furnished house, a kitchen with open shelving and earthenware crockery. Pair it with white oak, hammered iron hardware, woven jute, and ceramics in salt-glaze or oatmeal stoneware.
