This is a middleweight bench at 26kg. The contoured seat slats run side to side in the traditional manner. The straight back slats are slightly angled back resulting in a strong, functional and comfortable bench. The wide top and seat rails are designed with our CNC engraving in mind allowing 2 lines of 1 inch engraving per rail. The bench is made of FSC certified plantation teak providing you with a long lasting, stable, strong bench sourced from responsibly managed forests. Teak doesn't need to be treated, it ages beautifully to a silver patina. The arms are shaped on the top surface giving an ergonomic feel. The large leg profile of 56x56mm gives a good foundation and structure for bench. The Rochester doesn't have any wood lamination. Lamination is used in the furniture industry to reduce costs, it involves glueing pieces of wood together. We have seen examples of wood delaminating, so our advise is avoid it if you have the budget. The main mortise and tenon joints are manufactured so that when the dowel is driven into place, the joint is pulled tight. With a properly constructed joint assembled in this manner, glueing is not required. When you receive the bench, it will be fully assembled. Find out more about FSC certified wood. Engraving This bench can accommodate 2 lines of engraving on the top rail and seat rails. The maximum number of carved letters is 55 characters on the first line and 55 characters on the second line (including spaces). The V carved letters are typically 0.3inch/8mm deep, depending on the font type and size. This depth of carving takes a lot of machining time but the result is an inscription which is crisp, clear and readable. Choose how many lines of engraving you require, then type the inscription above the "Add to cart" button. Finally, select your font type from the drop down list and add it to cart. We offer free design proof, please choose this option if you require one. We aim to make the letters as large as possible, for example if you choose one line instead of three, then the letter height is likely to be larger.
