Song + Diaspora's Kashmiri Kehwa
For over 1500 years, the Silk Road wound from east to west, a trade route from Northern Africa to the far coasts of China. Textiles, minerals and ore, spices, tea, and more were passed along this storied route, a spread of wealth and culture across a vast continent. In Kashmir, saffron from Iran and almonds from Afghanistan were traded for tea from China, and in an ingenious local twist, blended and samovar-brewed in the Russian style, to create a wonderfully floral tea that is now distinctly Kashmiri. In collaboration with our friends at Diaspora Spice Co., we’ve created a bespoke blend of our Wild Gongmei white tea, almonds, and licorice, with an array of Diaspora’s finest saffron, cinnamon, and green cardamom. This brew, based on a recipe from the Mir family, Diaspora’s Kashmir-based farm partner, is a wonderfully warming, marigold-hued blend, brimming with floral flavor. Song Tea x Diaspora Spice Co.’s Kashmiri Kehwa pairs perfectly with shortbread cookies, rich mooncakes, or a simple slice of buttered toast. Ingredients: Wild Cinnamon, Sliced Blanched Almonds, Wild Gongmei White Tea, Baraka Green Cardamom, Licorice, Kashmiri Saffron. Allergen warning: Almonds. Note: this is a limited release collaboration, available for purchase from both Song Tea and Diaspora Spice Co.
