Grand Duke

Culinary plum. Raised at Rivers’ Nursery in Sawbridgeworth before 1876 from the variety Automne Compote. Large, oval, blue-black with a chalky bloom. Received RHS Award of Merit in 1880. Flesh is juicy and golden yellow. It is partially self-fertile so will set some fruit by itself. Having another plum tree of the same or adjacent pollination period will assist cropping. Flowering period A Pick and use mid/late Sept Supplied on half-standard rootstock St Julien A, suitable to grow free-standing or for fan-training (please add note to order if for formal training)
