Vintage Mens 1950s Bespoke Tweed Plus Fours +4s Green Brown Wool Trousers Knickers Breeks Pants 36"

A smashing pair of vintage 1950s plus fours (or plus eights...), bespoke made by the well-known Services tailor & outfitter 'Alkit' from a medium-weight thornproof type wool tweed fabric in a micro-check weave in browns, mid greens & natural giving a somewhat olive shade from a distance. They are full-cut in the seat, long & wide in the leg, with double front pleats, Lightning 'coffin' pull zip fly, braces buttons, elastic side waist adjusters, 2 side slip & a buttoned rear pocket, & metal 'Sword' brand buckles to fasten the extra deep cuffs. Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description. Size: Suggested 36" waist All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent): Waist: 18" (46cm) [3 1/2" to let out, see condition note below] Inside leg: 31 1/2" (80cm) Outside leg: 43 1/2" (110.5cm) Rise - crotch seam to top of waist: 15" (39cm) Leg opening at hem: 8" (20cm) at the midway point on the tab Condition: In excellent condition overall, appear seldom worn - the waist has been taken in at some point & subsequently let out, but not to the full original size; it appears that the waistband has been cut away in the process so an extra piece would need to be added if they were going to be let out. Have been thoroughly steamed & brushed prior to listing.
