Litha – The Wheel of the Year Playing Cards series This preorder is for the booklet for the project Second only to Yule, Litha or Midsummer was an important Anglo-Saxon festival. Its name appears in Old English literature as referring to the period of June and July in the old 13-month lunar calendar. These months were effectively named ‘before Litha’ and ‘after Litha’, referring to their position around the summer solstice and revealing the Anglo Saxon’s intimate knowledge of lunar positions and its importance to agriculture.
