Shintaro Fujinami’s rise began on Japan’s biggest amateur stage, where the towering right-hander led Osaka Toin High School to the rare spring-and-summer Koshien double in 2012. After entering NPB with the Hanshin Tigers, he quickly became one of Japan’s premier power arms, earning All-Star recognition and leading the Central League in strikeouts in 2015. Fujinami also wore the Samurai Japan uniform on the international stage, representing Japan at the 2017 World Baseball Classic and delivering two scoreless innings with four strikeouts against China. His career later crossed the Pacific to MLB with the Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles before returning to Japan, where he now pitches for the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, bringing elite velocity, global experience, and a proven big-game pedigree back to NPB.
