New Honey Gin, Mid Blooming Honeyberry (Haskap)
New Honey Gin is prized for it’s heavy production of delicious, sweet/tart berries with a great smoked-plum flavor. Perfect for fresh eating, or for freezing or processing. This variety has an upright growth habit to about 4 feet wide and 5 feet tall with a dense branching structure and eventually developing a dome-shaped crown. Produces 8-10 pounds of fruit at maturity. Cold hardy to USDA zone 2. Not self-fertile – must plant with a different variety of Honeyberry with similar bloom time for cross-pollination and fruit production. New Honey Gin is a mid season variety and is recommended to plant near other mid-season varieties (or long blooming early/mid season varieties) such as Aurora, Blue Banana, Blue Angus and others named in the Mid Blooming sections on this page here.
