I.33 Sharp Type 15 Single Handed Sword
I.33 is Europe’s earliest fight book and it specifically deals with fighting with a sword and buckler and is late 13thC to early 14thC. Our type 15 I.33 swords are designed using those depicted in the manual as inspiration and are specifically designed to work alongside a buckler allowing you to practice drills, combat and techniques from the manual. The sword type with its rectangular and slightly downturned guard and simple faceted wheel pommel dates from the late 13thC, but the type was current until the early to mid 15thC, giving this particular sword style a long life. This sword is available in two options. Semi-Sharp is ‘butter knife sharp’; it has a very fine flat on the edge. Sharp has been ground to give a reasonable cutting edge, but final honing, if required, is by the customer. Comes with a wooden scabbard covered in leather and finished with an integral belt and a bronze chape. To be very clear; this page is detailing and showing a fully functional sharp sword, if you wish to spar with friends you can pre order the blunt version here More information about the MS I.33 can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Armouries_Ms._I.33 Overall length 95cm/37” Blade length 77cm/30.25” Grip length 11.5cm/4.5cm Point of balance 9cm/3.5” Weight 1160g/2.6lbs
