Introduction to Dogmatics

After 135 years, Geerhardus Vos's Introduction to Dogmatics is now available in English for the first time. This translation opens new horizons for Reformed theology and biblical theology and invites a fundamental rethinking of their foundations. In 2023, Vos scholar Young Ho Kim discovered Vos's original handwritten lecture notes, titled Introduction to Dogmatics (Inleiding op de Dogmatiek). In this critical edition, Kim offers a translation of this work, allowing readers to glimpse Vos's early thought, which would later unfold in his biblical theology. Here Vos explores preliminary topics for dogmatics: its nature and sources, its external principle of knowledge in revelation, its internal principle in faith, and its doctrine of the inspiration of Scripture.
