gemma arrives before the opening. white gold holds the morganite inside folded petals – edges unresolved, the whole form still becoming. cold metal, deliberate. morganite: beryllium silicate, colored by trace manganese, one of the rarest members of the beryl family. its pink sits between rose and the absence of color, shifting with whatever light reaches it through the folds. diamonds press into the petals – small, fixed, each one catching what comes through. in older botanical texts, gemma named the bud at its most sealed moment – plant matter gathered inward, form present but unopened. made of 14k white gold and set with a morganite and diamonds in a sculptural botanical composition.
