It has been distilled at Glen Garioch Distillery, just a short distance from Little Brown Dog’s Aberdeenshire home, before being matured, vatted and bottled locally by the LBD team. The recipe brings together 60% first-fill bourbon barrels with 40% oloroso and PX sherry casks, using a mix of refill and first-fill wood. The result is a balanced, old-fashioned style of Highland single malt, combining the fruit, malt and gentle spice of Glen Garioch’s distillate with added richness from carefully selected sherry casks. Each batch is hand numbered, with around 2,000 bottles produced. That makes it larger than many LBD releases, but still small by wider industry standards.
