Most speaker designers treat time alignment as a nice-to-have. Thiel treated it as the whole point. The result is a speaker that images with unusual precision and throws a soundstage that doesn't collapse when you move off-axis. The CS3 is a three-way design — 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter, 4-inch midrange, dual 8-inch woofers — with the kind of coherence between drivers that makes the crossover points effectively disappear.
