About the Cross A self cross of Dendrobium teretifolia (Syn. Dockrillia teretifolia) 'Lake Macquarie Giant' — a cultivar selected for its exceptional size, consistent with the large coastal NSW forms of this species that grow on Casuarina and other trees in estuarine environments around the Lake Macquarie region. Dockrillia teretifolia, commonly known as the Bridal Veil Orchid or Thin Pencil Orchid, is one of the most floriferous of the terete-leafed Australian natives, capable of producing cascading racemes of fragrant, spidery white to cream flowers with fine markings in spring. The 'Lake Macquarie Giant' cultivar name reflects a plant selected for vigour and scale — seedlings from a self cross of this parent have a good chance of inheriting that robust growth, though individual variation will still occur. This is a pure species selfing — no hybrid involved — making it of interest to both species collectors and those wanting a reliable, well-grown Dockrillia for mounting or basket work. What You'll Receive Established seedlings in 66mm pots, grown in the Dandenong Ranges. Not yet flowered. Individual results will vary — that's the nature of a seedling cross and part of what makes it worthwhile.
