MUX PRO Controller We are currently shipping prototypes of this to judge customer reaction. It will be replaced with a production model in June when they are available. The MUX Pro is a patent-pending controller designed to expand the capabilities of Caterpillar D-Series and Next Gen machines. It connects directly to the standard 14-pin interface and converts the machine’s four available 12-volt outputs into eight independent 12-volt control functions. This allows operators to run advanced 14-pin attachments that would otherwise be limited by the factory control system. Caterpillar machines typically provide only four usable auxiliary controls (Aux 3, 4, 5, and 6), while additional buttons are reserved for proprietary CAN-based systems that function exclusively with CAT attachments. This creates limitations for customers who want the flexibility to use a wider range of attachments. The MUX Pro is designed to remove those limitations, giving operators greater control and freedom of choice across compatible equipment. Installation is simple and requires no special tools. The unit plugs directly into the machine’s 14-pin connector, then connects to the attachment. Once installed, operators can control additional functions by using the existing auxiliary controls in combination with the Aux 7 “shift” function. This effectively doubles the available outputs without modifying the machine. Control mapping is as follows: Aux 3 (Pin C) → Shift with Aux 7 to activate Pin G Aux 4 (Pin D) → Shift with Aux 7 to activate Pin H Aux 5 (Pin E) → Shift with Aux 7 to activate Pin M Aux 6 (Pin F) → Shift with Aux 7 to activate Pin N The machine-side connector includes an internal high-flow jumper, allowing compatibility with high-flow attachments. To configure: Set jumper to K for XPS systems Set jumper to N for XE/XHP systems Please note that while the MUX Pro ships with a standard pin configuration, some attachments may require re-pinning to match specific control requirements. The unit is built using Amphenol connector bases with custom back shells and strain reliefs, making pin adjustments straightforward and user-friendly. For customers using specialized equipment, such as Bobcat graders, additional pin configuration guidance is available upon request to ensure optimal performance.
