Our Ladder – Multi Copper San Mai is a high-impact San Mai billet built for makers who want bold contrast, clean ladder movement, and the unmistakable warmth of copper—without sacrificing the integrity of a true working core. Unlike our standard copper-infused San Mai (where copper is concentrated in specific jacket bands), this version features copper distributed throughout the jacket stack. The result is a richer, more complex look with copper highlights appearing across the face of the billet as the pattern develops through grinding, shaping, and etching. At the center is a performance-focused core steel (O1 or 1095, depending on the billet) chosen for edge stability and toughness. Surrounding the core is a multi-layer jacket engineered for vivid contrast: nickel for brightness, copper for depth and warmth, and an outer layer of our Carbon Ladder Damascus (1075/Nickel) to deliver that classic ladder topography and dramatic reveal.
