Maruvian Ancestral Masks

9"x 12" original oil on canvas Warm ochres and deep violets collide in this original painting, where masks and interlocking geometric planes form a compact, rhythmic composition. A crescent motif crowns the central figure while looping rings and patterned surfaces create movement around the focal shape. Layered brushwork and soft shading give the flat planes sculptural volume, and dotted and hatched details add a tactile, handmade quality. The work presents a playful, contemplative tension between figuration and abstraction, offering a bold focal point without overwhelming the room.
