Each design is a unique work of art, created in a numbered series by collectives of 10 to 15 weavers. The Half Diamond is a traditional pattern associated with a young woman’s journey into adulthood. A girl would weave this design when she reaches the age of womanhood. This Bilum is handwoven from acrylic and wool yarn as well as up-cycled knitwear using traditional weaving techniques. This purse is lined and features a frame closure and internal pocket. Dimensions: 33cm W x 16cm L Weaver Details: Virginia is an artisan weaver based in Goroka. She created this Bilum design by hand over six weeks. Virginia is part of the Goroka collective of weavers led by Florence or Bilum Meri,who is aggregator and brand cultural advisor. Florence has been vital to the success of Among Equals since its founding and is fiercely passionate about building a platform for the weavers. "I am strong for the weavers, I see them as sisters.
